Welcome to Willows Reception for the academic year 2018-2019!
If you have any ideas for this page- please let the class teacher know.
This year Reception will have Physical Development sessions every Friday morning. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing shorts/jogging bottoms and a t-shirt and wearing suitable footwear (trainers). No jewellery is to be worn.
All books will be changed and sent home to children every Friday. Please support your child by listening to them read their story and talking to them about the characters and what has happened. If your child has a picture book, please encourage them to talk about what they think is happening in the story and about the characters. When you have listened to your child read, please write and sign their reading record.
Homework will be sent home every Friday. The focus of the homework will be on basic skills - number and letter work, that your child needs to practice and improve on. Please ensure homework is returned every Thursday so it can be marked and new work can be set by the following day.
This half term our topic will be, ‘Why do Squirrels hide their nuts?’ This topic allows children to learn about Autumnal changes, woodland animals and hibernation.
We will be spending a lot of time outdoors in the coming weeks so please ensure children are sent to school in appropriate clothing - coats and willies (and hats, scarves and gloves/mittens when the weather gets cold!)
After half term our topic will be, ‘What is a reflection?’ which will give the children opportunities to explore with different materials, symmetry, photographs and mirrors.
