Senedd (School /Eco Council)

Last year our Eco Warriors worked hard with Tidy Teams and Keep Tidy Wales to design and develop a nature garden for the whole school to use. They kept a close eye on the team and told them exactly how they wanted it to look. With an additional grant from Natural Buzz we were able to buy lots of pollinating flowers to encourage bees and butterflies into the garden. The plants are still growing but hopefully in a year's time the place will have lots of bees and butterflies. It is now a lovely place to sit in our school grounds.

The nature garden before planting our new plants                          Our Eco Warriors met with Tidy Teams to show them our design for the nature garden

At the end of the year, Our Eco Warriors decided that it would be a good idea to have a vegetable patch so that we could grow vegetables and more excitingly, eat what we grow! Mr Evans helped plant pumpkins, beans and beetroot and with regular watering over the summer holidays they grew and grew! In the Autumn term, Maple class picked the beans and asked Mrs Edwards our lovely cook, if she could use them for school dinners! Mrs Edwards agreed and the children enjoyed eating their beans with their roast dinner. Her kindness didn't stop there and as a bonus the children were given pumpkin soup to taste! It was delicious and hopefully not the last of produce grown and then eaten in our school.
