Dear Parent/Carers
In view of the RED weather warning issued to by the MET Office for significant parts of Rhondda Cynon Taf, the Council has directed the closure of all schools tomorrow.
This action has been taken in the interest of public safety. Your child will be provided with remote learning opportunities during this emergency closure day.

Dear Parents/Carers
I forgot to add to the Newsletter yesterday that February 7-13th is Children's Mental Health Week and so classes will be doing lots of lessons and activities linked to this to promote Health and Wellbeing. It will be an opportunity for us to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people's mental health. 'Children's Mental Health Week' is run by children's mental health charity to focus on the importance of looking after our emotional wellbeing from an early age. This year's theme is 'Growing Together '. I am aware that Mr Wayne Hankin from Mountain Ash Photography is coming to the school during the Dress to Express Week on the 11th February to take St David's Day photos and in the circumstances to save confusion, I have changed our Dress to Express Day to Thursday 10th February due to lots going on inside the school
Human beings change and grow – we do it all the time and in many different ways. Physical growth is easy to see as we grow from babies to children, teenagers to adults. We grow intellectually as we gain new knowledge, skills, and understanding at school, and beyond. Growing Together is about growing emotionally, and finding ways to help each other grow.
As our lives continue to adjust following the impact of coronavirus, we know that children and young people need our emotional support now more than ever. In fact, research shows up to 1.5 million children and young people across the UK need mental health support as a direct consequence of the pandemic.
DRESS TO EXPRESS
On Thursday February 10th😍, we are asking staff and pupils including parents ( when dropping your child off at school or picking up - optional ) to wear their favourite colour or a unique outfit to express how they are feeling. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like! Dress to Express is an opportunity for self -expression and celebrating a wide range of emotions. The day also provides a great opportunity to be open about mental health and start conversation within our school community.
If you would like to donate towards this (optional) then please click on the link below.

PS : If parents choose to take part and wear a 'Dress to Express' outfit and are happy to have a photo (if seen by some of the teachers around the school as pupils are dropped off in the morning or picked up at the end of day) then please let us know.😁
Thanking You in Advance
